Thunder Snow!
Yes, that is what we are experiencing this morning; Thunder Snow. What exactly is Thunder Snow you ask. It is when thunder and sometimes lightening occur during a snow storm. It is caused when a mass of cold air on top of warm, plus moist air closer to the ground come together. It usually makes for a much heavier snow than you normally get, as can be seen in the picture. If you would like more information please go here to read a National Geographic News item on Thunder Snow.
Because we are having this snow storm J and I were unable to do our normal Saturday errands, grocery shopping, etc. Instead we have been killing time watching old movies and Retro TV, playing games and such on the computer, eating and napping. It’s been a long day (really). We were thinking it is good that it happened on a weekend so that the schools and such aren’t affected, but we just got a call a bit ago that church has been canceled for tomorrow. Oh well!
Besides doing the above, really interesting stuff, I also did a little work on my Church Rose. I probably could have finished it today but I am running low on solder and I hated to get in the middle of a touchy spot and run out completely and be stuck. So here it is so far, my work in progress:
It is 17 x 17. I don’t exactly know how I want to finish it, lead or chain. Once I can get out (as in go to town) again, I will look at what is available. I haven’t purchased stained glass materials in quite a while and the owner of my favorite shop in Tulsa sold out and retired last year so I need to find a new shop. There is one shop in Tulsa that I’ve been to before and another one in Broken Arrow that I’d like to visit. Maybe I’ll try to get there soon and see what designs of lead they have available.
If you would like to see a few pictures of our yard in blanketed in snow take a look at the March 2009 Thunder Snowstorm in the gallery. You’ll notice there are not any pictures of my family in there; that is because my family is a bunch of sissies and we won’t go out in the cold.
Now it is supper time and I think I’ll head into the kitchen and, because it is freezing outside, make a pot of cheesy potato soup and a pan of cornbread. Mmmmmm.
Hope you are keeping warm.

You new piece is lovely! I was wondering if you’d noticed the new stained glass (and antique) shop outside of Langley? Barbara told me she went in there and he had some really gorgeous work. Also that he teaches classes from that studio. Just being “a birdie”, in case…
In case it’s something of interest to you. (BTW, haven’t seen it for myself.)
I have seen it but haven’t had a chance to drop in. It seems like every time we are over that way we are in a hurry to get something done.
Beautiful, Debbie and oh, that Thunder Snow, we’re expecting something of sort, this Sunday. Yikes.
